Indian textile industry is one of the leading industries in the world. There are excellent job opportunities all over the country not only in shop floor of the textile manufacturing units but also in research and development activities.

This is one of the pioneer colleges in Textile Education and the genesis of this proposal for opening a post graduate programme in Textile Technology was a sequel to the wide spread reputation of this institute and intense desire and frequent request of the alumni who are well placed in their professional career. The college has a good interaction with textile industry and the infrastructure of the college is quite developed since it is carrying a glorious history of long existence. As far as the textile education in the state is concerned, only one college, conducts Post Graduate course in Textile Technology with specific specialisation in Mechanical Processing in Textiles while another institute in the offer P.G. degree in Textile Technology with strict specialisation in Technical Textiles. Textile industry is the biggest employer in the country and with the advent of sophisticated and high tech machineries, manpower with upgraded and precise knowledge will be required by the manufacturing units to explore innovative products by promoting research activities.

Hence, considering the above aspects, especially infrastructure of the college and the market demand, we have started the full-time PG programme in 'Textile Engineering'(M.Tech).
